Clarity stated by Meta: 2064 × 2208 pixels per eye over a 110° horizontal field of view. The higher the figure, the easier it is to read small cockpit labels and gauges.
In VR you look out the side window to find the runway on the turn to final, instead of panning a view with a hat switch. That's the reason to fly in a headset at all, and the Quest 3 gets you there with a 110° horizontal field of view and up to 120 Hz.
The limit is clarity. 25 PPD on 2064 × 2208 pixels per eye is less than the Pimax Crystal Light's 35, and the PC picture reaches the headset compressed, over the Meta Quest Link cable or Air Link. That can soften fine details such as small cockpit text compared with a DisplayPort link.
A USB-C Link cable or a good Wi-Fi 6E connection, and that's it: tracking is inside-out, so nothing goes on the walls. Your HOTAS, yoke and pedals stay plugged into the PC as usual.
Meta states 515 g without the facial interface, and the IPD range runs from 53 to 75 mm. It comes in 512 GB only, the one capacity Meta still sells.

On paper, the Meta Quest 3 offers 25 pixels per degree (2064 × 2208 per eye), a 110° horizontal field of view, compressed video streaming from the PC (Wi-Fi or USB cable). Meta states that the headset plays PC VR through Meta Quest Link or Air Link, and streams the Steam library through Steam Link. PC flight sims such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, X-Plane 12 and DCS World run in VR through OpenXR or SteamVR: check the VR requirements of your sim before buying. This is a spec-sheet comparison, not a hands-on test.
Meta states 25 PPD with 2064 × 2208 pixels per eye. Pixels per degree (PPD) measure how many pixels cover one degree of your view: the higher the figure, the easier it is to read small gauges, switch labels and the text on flight displays without leaning in.
USB-C (Meta Quest Link cable) or Wi-Fi 6E (Air Link, Steam Link). The PC image is compressed before it reaches the headset, which can soften fine details such as small cockpit text compared with a DisplayPort link.
No. Inside-out (4 IR cameras, 2 RGB cameras, depth sensor). The cameras on the headset track its position.
Yes: your HOTAS, yoke and rudder pedals connect to the PC, not to the headset, so any PC flight control works alongside it. In VR you cannot see your hands, so controls you can find by feel help.
The Meta Quest 3 scores 8.4/10 ("Good") in the VR headset category, ranking 10 of 12. The score is calculated from the official specs and the checked US price, with no hands-on test.
