MOZA AB9 FFB Base review and specs

Spec-sheet comparison, not a hands-on test. We have not tried the MOZA AB9 FFB Base ourselves: the score and details are based on the official MOZA spec sheet and dated US prices.

base only, flight stick sold separately

–Not rated

The only force feedback stick base in our data. MOZA's AB9 uses dual servo motors with up to 12 Nm peak torque, so the stick can push back instead of just springing to center. On October 29, 2026 it was $499 instead of $549. Read the next line twice: it's a base, and the grip is extra.

  • Dual servo motors with 12 Nm peak torque and a ±20° adjustable range
  • Fanless aviation-grade aluminum housing with a 1000 Hz USB refresh rate
  • Base only: pairs with MOZA flight sticks such as the MH16 or third-party grips via optional adapters

Up to 12 Nm of force feedback

Peak force feedback torque stated by MOZA for the stick base.

What force feedback changes

A spring stick feels the same on the takeoff roll as in a high-speed pull. Force feedback lets the sim set the force: trim can actually relieve pressure, and a stall can shake the stick in your hand. How much of that you get depends on the sim and the aircraft, not on the base alone.

MOZA lists a ±20° adjustable range, a 1000 Hz USB refresh rate and a fanless aluminum housing. It describes the sensor only as a high-resolution encoder and gives no axis count or resolution, so we don't score it: too few technical criteria on paper.

Desk, grip and budget

Base only. MOZA pairs it with its own sticks such as the MH16, sold separately for $149 on MOZA's US store when we checked, or with third-party grips through optional adapters. Count both in the budget before you compare prices.

PC only: MOZA's FAQ rules out Xbox and PlayStation. The base carries a two-year warranty, and MOZA's MTQ throttle can plug into a MOZA flight base through RJ11 instead of taking another USB port.

Great if you…

  • want a stick that pushes back, and fly on PC
  • already own a grip you can adapt, or plan on the MH16
  • want a MOZA throttle and stick base that talk to each other

Skip it if…

  • you want a calculated score before you buy: MOZA doesn't publish enough for one
  • you want a complete stick in one box: grip sold separately
  • you fly on a console

Better fit elsewhere?

The natural rival is VIRPIL's ALPHA Prime + WarBRD-D, $50.90 more as a grip-and-base pair: no force feedback, but 14-bit contactless sensors and clutch dampers. See AB9 vs ALPHA Prime + WarBRD-D.

Not sure you need motors at all? The VKB Gladiator NXT EVO Space Combat Edition lets you tune springs and friction for $139. Rated sticks are in the best flight sticks.

The verdict

The AB9 is the way into force feedback on our list: dual servos, 12 Nm peak, ±20° of range, $499 instead of $549 on October 29, 2026, grip not included.

If you want the stick to fight back, this is the base. Add the grip to the total, then check today's price.
