Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder Pedals (TFRP) review and specs

Spec-sheet comparison, not a hands-on test. We have not tried the Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder Pedals (TFRP) ourselves: the score and details are based on the official Thrustmaster spec sheet and dated US prices.

9.3Excellent · out of 10

The rudder pedals we'd tell most pilots to buy first. $129.99 gets you differential toe brakes, three axes and the widest platform list in our pedal data: PC, Xbox, PS5 and PS4. On our scale they score the same as the Honeycomb Charlie at the top of the ranking, for $220 less.

  • Pedals glide on four aluminum slide rails (S.M.A.R.T) for smooth rudder input
  • Differential toe brakes let you brake each wheel independently while taxiing
  • USB on PC; on PS5, PS4 and Xbox it plugs into the back of a compatible Thrustmaster stick or yoke

Rudder axis plus differential toe brakes

Each toe brake works as its own axis, as stated by Thrustmaster.

What changes on the ground

Taxiing first. With a twist grip, every turn off the runway is a small argument with the nosewheel. With differential toe brakes, you press the left one, the airplane pivots left, and the yellow line stays under you. Thrustmaster's own wording: brake each wheel independently while taxiing.

Then the crosswind. Your feet hold the centerline while your hands fly the wings level, which is exactly the job a twist grip does badly. Thrustmaster runs the pedals on four aluminum slide rails it calls S.M.A.R.T, for smooth rudder input.

Desk, console and what plugs where

On PC it's plain USB. On Xbox, PS5 and PS4 the pedals don't go into the console: Thrustmaster plugs them into the back of a compatible Thrustmaster stick or yoke. On the T.16000M FCS HOTAS, they go straight into the throttle for three extra axes.

At 2.21 kg they're light, so on a hard floor think about what stops them from creeping forward. What Thrustmaster doesn't publish: the sensor type, the pedal travel and a US warranty figure.

Great if you…

  • fly on Xbox or PlayStation and already own a compatible Thrustmaster stick or yoke
  • want toe brakes for the least money in our pedal data
  • are adding pedals to a Thrustmaster HOTAS and like one less USB cable

Skip it if…

  • you want Hall sensors stated on paper: the TPR lists 16-bit Hall, the Charlie lists Hall
  • you fly on console with a stick or yoke from another brand
  • a stated warranty matters to you. Logitech prints two years for its pedals; Thrustmaster gives no US figure.

Better fit elsewhere?

The closest rival is TFRP vs Logitech Flight Rudder Pedals. The Logitech set costs $50 more, is PC only, and answers with a tension dial and a two-year warranty.

Moving up, the Honeycomb Charlie Rudder Pedals put Hall sensors on a belt transmission for $349.99, and the Thrustmaster TPR go pendular for $599.99. All five are in the best flight sim rudder pedals. Still on the fence? Read do you need rudder pedals?
