What changes in the cockpit

Your left hand finally gets a job. With the TWCS throttle under it, power, speed brakes and trim live on the hardware instead of the keyboard, and the stick stays in your right hand all the way down the approach. Thrustmaster says the throttle slides on rails over 3.2 in (80 mm) of travel with adjustable friction: stiff enough to hold cruise power, easy to nudge on short final.

On the stick, 16-bit Hall effect sensors read pitch and roll. Contactless sensors don't wear the way potentiometers do, so the center stays clean over time, and a clean center is the whole game when you're holding a glide path. Rudder comes from a twist of the grip, and Thrustmaster lets you lock it the day you add pedals.

Desk or home cockpit?

Desk, no question. Two compact units, 2.1 kg for the pair on the spec sheet, and a stick that Thrustmaster says converts between right- and left-handed use.

The pedal plan is already built in: Thrustmaster's TFRP rudder pedals ($129.99) plug straight into the throttle for three extra axes. One less USB port to find.

Great if you…

  • fly on PC and want one set that covers GA, liners and the odd DCS sortie
  • want Hall sensors on the stick without paying flagship money
  • plan to add rudder pedals later and like the idea of plugging them into the throttle

Skip it if…

  • you fly on Xbox or PlayStation. The spec sheet says PC, full stop.
  • you fly twins and want a lever per engine: the TWCS has one
  • you want a licensed replica of a real fighter grip. That's Warthog territory, at $599.99.

Better fit elsewhere?

The obvious rival is the Logitech X56 H.O.T.A.S.: twin throttles, 13 axes and thumb sticks for space sims, for $80 more. Here's the X56 vs T.16000M FCS HOTAS head-to-head.

On Xbox, look at the Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas One ($99.99); on PS5, the T.Flight Hotas 5 MSFS Edition ($109.99). Flying Airbus mostly? The Thrustmaster TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition pairs a sidestick with a two-lever quadrant and detents for $199.99.

The verdict

The T.16000M FCS HOTAS is the sensible buy in this hobby: Hall sensors where they count, a real throttle, a clear path to pedals, $169.99 at Thrustmaster's US store on October 29, 2026.

If you only buy one thing to get off the keyboard, make it this one. Then go check today's price.
