The 7 best HOTAS and sticks for Star Citizen in 2026
If you only read one line: the Logitech X56 H.O.T.A.S. at $249.99 is the space pick, with a thumb stick under each hand for strafing, and the VKB Gladiator NXT EVO Space Combat Edition at $139 is the stick we'd start with if two sticks is the plan. Here are the 7 PC sticks and HOTAS with a twist axis we rank for space. Spec-sheet comparison, not a hands-on test: scores from official spec sheets and US prices.
This ranking brings together HOTAS and flight sticks. Each score is calculated within its product category, then all products are ranked together by that score.

For each price band, the highest-scoring product in this ranking.
Stick and throttle, or two sticks. Many space pilots fly two sticks (HOSAS) instead of a stick and a throttle. VKB sells the Gladiator NXT EVO in a left-hand version and VIRPIL offers a left-hand ALPHA Prime grip, so either can become a pair. A HOTAS like the X56 keeps a real throttle under your left hand instead.
Count axes, not buttons. Strafing up, down and sideways needs analog axes, and that's where these sets differ most: 13 on the X56, 9 on the T.16000M FCS HOTAS, 6 on the VKB or the VIRPIL stick alone. Buttons can be found on a keyboard. Axes can't.
Lock the twist later. A twist grip handles yaw today. If pedals join the setup, check that the twist locks: the T.16000M FCS, the VKB and the VIRPIL all say theirs does. Our what is a HOTAS guide covers the basics.
PC is the platform. Every product here is listed for PC. If the same set also has to work on a console, the T.Flight Hotas 5 covers PS5 and PS4 and the T.Flight Hotas One covers Xbox.
The ranking in detail
The short version: space flight eats axes. The Logitech X56 H.O.T.A.S. has 13 of them, with mini analog thumb sticks on the stick and the throttle that Logitech pitches for 6DoF, and twin throttles that lock together. Nothing else in this list comes close to that count. Every product here also has a twist axis, the entry ticket for yaw without pedals; airliner replicas are left out.
The T.16000M FCS shows up twice: second as a stick at $79.99, third as the HOTAS with the TWCS throttle at $169.99, the same Hall sensor stick in both. The VKB Gladiator NXT EVO Space Combat Edition and the VIRPIL Constellation ALPHA Prime + WarBRD-D ($549.90) are the modular sticks for pilots who like to tune: VKB adds an 8-way analog mini stick on the Premium grip, VIRPIL an analog thumbstick and a brake lever axis. The two T.Flight sets close the list at $109.99 and $99.99: cheap and plug and play, but Thrustmaster doesn't state their sensor type. Torn between the top two HOTAS? Read X56 vs T.16000M FCS HOTAS.

How is this ranking built?
We consider all PC flight sticks and HOTAS with a stated twist axis, airliner replicas excluded in our data with a price and a score, 7 products in total, and keep the 7 best rated. Each score is calculated within its product category (HOTAS and flight sticks), with no hands-on test and regardless of any commission.
Why are different categories in one list?
This ranking answers one question across several types of controls. Each product is scored within its own category, then all are ranked together by that score: a yoke and a HOTAS are never scored on the same criteria.
Are the prices up to date?
US prices were checked on October 29, 2026 at official US stores or named US retailers. They can change: the price at the merchant is the one that applies.
